Product Overview

CM Aquatechnik supplies cast iron, ductile iron, and stainless steel penstocks (sluice gates), weirs, and stoplogs for flow isolation, diversion, and level control in open channels, wet wells, and wastewater treatment process tanks.

Available in rising spindle (RS) and non-rising spindle (NRS) configurations with manual handwheel, gearbox, or electric actuator drive. Stainless steel 304/316L construction available for corrosive environments.

Frequently asked questions

Rising or non-rising spindle: which should I choose?

With a rising spindle (RS) the spindle travels up through the operating mechanism as the gate opens, giving a clear visual indication of gate position but requiring headroom above the gate. A non-rising spindle (NRS) stays at a fixed height, which suits installations with limited headroom; position indicators are available for both.

Which materials and seals are available?

Penstocks, weirs and stoplogs are supplied in cast iron, ductile iron or stainless steel 304/316L, with 316L recommended for aggressive industrial wastewater. Seating is either metal-to-metal or EPDM/NBR rubber-faced, and rubber-faced seating achieves bubble-tight shutoff in dirty water.

Can penstocks be operated remotely or automatically?

Yes. Gates can be fitted with electric actuators for remote or automated operation, as well as position indicators and limit switches for integration into the plant control system. Manual handwheel and gearbox drives are available where automation is not required.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Please tell us the type of gate, the opening size (width × height), the maximum water head and whether it acts on or off the seat, and the mounting arrangement (wall, floor, embedded or flange-mounted). The medium, preferred material and drive type (handwheel, gearbox or electric actuator) complete the design data. Send us your requirements and we will prepare a proposal within 48 hours.
