Product Overview

CM Aquatechnik supplies low-pressure and medium-pressure UV sterilisation systems for bacteria, virus, and protozoa inactivation in drinking water, process water, and wastewater reuse applications. UV technology provides chemical-free disinfection without altering taste, colour, or pH, with no disinfection by-products (DBPs).

Validated to NSF/ANSI 55 Class A (40 mJ/cm² minimum dose) for drinking water, and to DVGW W294 for municipal applications. Medium-pressure systems achieve broadband UV output for enhanced pathogen inactivation and simultaneous ozone and chloramine destruction.

Frequently asked questions

How is a UV steriliser sized?

A UV system is sized on the basis of the maximum flow rate, the UV transmittance (UVT) of the water and the required UV dose. For drinking water, NSF/ANSI 55 Class A requires a minimum dose of 40 mJ/cm², and water with lower UVT needs more lamp power to achieve the same dose. Our range covers flows from 0.1 to 5,000 m³/h.

What is the difference between low-pressure and medium-pressure UV systems?

Low-pressure lamps emit almost all their output at the germicidal wavelength of 254 nm and are highly efficient for clear water with a UVT of 75 to 100%. Medium-pressure lamps provide broadband UV output at much higher power per lamp, operate at UVT down to 55% and can also destroy chloramines and ozone or contribute to TOC reduction. The choice depends on water quality, flow rate and treatment objective.

What maintenance does a UV system require?

UV lamps have a limited service life and must be replaced at the intervals specified by the manufacturer to maintain the required dose. The quartz sleeves must be kept clean so that UV light can pass through, and high-flow models feature automatic wiper cleaning for this purpose. A UV intensity sensor monitors the dose in real time and triggers an alarm if it falls below the set value.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Please tell us the maximum flow rate, the UV transmittance of the water at 254 nm, the application and the required standard or dose (for example NSF/ANSI 55 or DVGW W294), relevant water quality data such as iron, hardness and turbidity, the pipe connection size, the operating pressure and the available electrical supply. Send us your requirements and we will prepare a proposal within 48 hours.
